Impossible - James Arthur

The Experience:
Our lives are built on the certainty that someone loves us. “Thinking all you need is there.” But love doesn’t always have happy endings. “My heart is broken, All my scars are open.” Love’s supposed to be about helping, not hurting. But it can into a game... Teasing turns into wounding, into a petty contest of “You were strong and I was not.” Impossible? No. All too real. Where does love-gone-wrong end? “Falling out of love is hard, Falling for betrayal is worst. Broken trust and broken hearts.” Never turn love into a game... or it will end in hurt and betrayal.

Music Video:
Great takes of James winning the X-factor with the song.

My Take:
“Take caution when it comes to love.” Love is not a game. It’s a life. When the trust is gone from “love and words, Empty promises will wear.” You can choose to never let yourself be open to being betrayed. Or you can choose to renew your love, day after day, so that those promises never get empty.

Ask Yourself:
Is my love a game where only one of us wins? Who is the strong and weak? Or do I fight to keep the faith in my “love and words” to keep my promises of love from becoming empty? Never turn love into a game... or it will turn into a bitter power struggle... and then betrayal.

LYRICS:

I remember years ago
Someone told me I should take
Caution when it comes to love
I did

And you were strong and I was not
My illusion, my mistake
I was careless, I forgot
I did

And now when all is done
There is nothing to say
You have gone and so effortlessly
You have won
You can go ahead tell them

Tell them all I know now
Shout it from the roof tops
Write it on the sky line
All we had is gone now

Tell them I was happy
And my heart is broken
All my scars are open
Tell them what I hoped would be
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible

Falling out of love is hard
Falling for betrayal is worst
Broken trust and broken hearts
I know, I know ...
Thinking all you need is there
Building faith on love and words
Empty promises will wear
I know, I know ...

And now when all is gone
There is nothing to say

And if you're done with embarrassing me
On your own you can go ahead tell them

Tell them all I know now
Shout it from the roof tops
Write it on the sky line
All we had is gone now

Tell them I was happy
And my heart is broken
All my scars are open
Tell them what I hoped would be
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible

I remember years ago
Someone told me I should take
Caution when it comes to love
I did

Tell them all I know now
Shout it from the roof tops
Write it on the sky line
All we had is gone now

Tell them I was happy
And my heart is broken
All my scars are open
Tell them what I hoped would be
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
