Highway Don't Care - Tim McGraw feat. Taylor Swift, Keith Urban

The Experience:
You watched her leave. You fought to keep her, to save her. And you loved her so much that when she made her decision, up and left, you didn't do anything to stop her. But you know that she's going way to fast, that the highway don't care. Someone you love is going to get hurt. And that hurts you...

Music Video:
She's gone, cruising down the highway. And he keeps calling. And calling. He won't stop her. But he won't let her go, either. Because he knows that the world doesn't care about her like he does. The world won't cherish her like he does. But when disaster strikes and she's picked off the asphalt more dead than alive, he gets a chance to love her again. He's a surgeon, and on the operating table he proves once more that he cares if she's coming home or not.

My Take:

Hurt - not being hurt by them, but hurting for them - is what guarantees your love is real. The highway won't hold you tonight. It don't know you're alive. It don't care if you're all alone. It won't dry your tears. The highway don't care if you're coming home. But I do, I do. Want to know if you love someone? Ask yourself if you hurt for them. Because one thing is be attracted to someone, or just liking them. But loving is a whole different ball game. When you love, you open up your heart to happiness... and to hurt. Hurt that's not just pain, but hope too. The title of McGraw's album is Two Lanes of Freedom; you can abuse freedom to leave, but you can also use it to come back.

Ask Yourself:
Do you hurt for others? Do you care? Do you do something about it?

LYRICS:

Bet your window’s rolled down and your hair’s pulled back
I bet you got no idea you’re going way too fast
And you’re trying not to think about what went wrong
Trying not to stop til you get where you goin’
Trying to stay awake so I bet you turn on the radio
And the song goes

I can’t live without you, I can’t live without you baby
I can’t live without you, I can’t live without you baby, baby
The highway won’t hold you tonight
The highway don’t know you’re alive
The highway don’t care if you’re all alone
But I do, I do.

The highway won’t dry your tears
The highway don’t need you here
The highway don’t care if you’re coming home
But I do, I do.

I bet you got a dead cell phone in the shot gun seat
Yeah, I bet you’re bending God’s ear talking about me.
You’re trying not to let the first tear fall out
Trying not to think about turning around
Trying not to be lost in sound but that song is always on
So you sing along

I can’t live without you, I can’t live without you baby
I can’t live without I can’t live without you baby, baby
The Highway won’t hold you tonight
The highway don’t know you’re alive
The highway don’t care if you’re all alone
But I do, I do

The highway won’t dry your tears
The highway don’t need you here
The highway don’t care if you’re coming home
But I do, I do.

I can’t live without you, I can’t live without you baby
I can’t live without I can’t live without you baby, baby

The highway don’t care
The highway don’t care
