You Found Me - The Fray

The Experience:
This song came out of a tough time, and I'm still right in the thick of it. There's some difficult circumstances my family and friends have been going through over the past year or so and it can be overwhelming. It wears on me. It demands so much of my faith to keep believing, keep hoping in the unseen. Sometimes the tunnel has a light at the end, but usually they just look black as night. This song is about that feeling, and the hope that I still have buried deep in my chest. Isaac Slade, posted on their website thefray.net.

Music Video:
The Fray sings on a bridge looking over the city, at times aloft the skyscrapers, in a car or the public transit. A woman is found apparently dead in the aftermath of a car accident and is taken away by the paramedics, symbolizing the dashed dreams sung of (lying on the floor). But at the end, when it seems all is lost, and the sun has come to late, she opens her eyes.

My Take:
This song is about holding on to hope, despite everything. Isaac asks why he had to be found so late, yet hope is still "buried in his chest".

Ask Yourself:
Can you keep the faith and hold onto hope when tragedy strikes, and it seems that God just isn't there?

LYRICS:

found God
On the corner of First and Amistad
Where the west
Was all but won
All alone
Smoking his last cigarette
I said, "Where you been?"
He said, "Ask anything".

Where were you
When everything was falling apart?
All my days
Were spent by the telephone
It never rang
And all I needed was a call
That never came
To the corner of First and Amistad

Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lyin' on the floor
Surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait?
Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late
You found me, you found me

In the end
Everyone ends up alone
Losing her
The only one who's ever known
Who I am
Who I'm not, who I wanna be
No way to know
How long she will be next to me

Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lyin' on the floor
Surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait?
Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late
You found me, you found me

Early morning
The city breaks
I've been callin'
For years and years and years and years
And you never left me no messages
Ya never send me no letters
You got some kinda nerve
Taking all my world

Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lyin' on the floor
Where were you? Where were you?
Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lyin' on the floor
Surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait?
Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late
You found me, you found me
Why'd you have to wait?
To find me, to find me
