Heart Upon My Sleeve - Avicii feat. Dan Reynolds

The Experience: I still feel broken. You're not there - where are you? I need you so badly I'm here with my heart upon my sleeve.

Music Video: Still Waiting.

My Take: It's never easy to confess needing someone else. It sounds like admitting to weakness - until I lose that person. Then I realize how terrible the weakness of loneliness is: lost, broken, head down. Admit the "weakness" of needing, of needing love means returning to the strength of loving and being loved.

Halfway through the song, Avicii and Dan Reynolds provide some very effective contrast with the out-of-the-blue sexual reference, "I guess I'm just down I'd like some b**ch to get me out of here!" It doesn't stick, and definitely jars with the rest of the song. But that's the point: real loves - and real losses - only happen when you care, and never when you only use.

Ask Yourself: When I'm head down low, do I stay by myself or do I look for help from others? Do admit I need them?

LYRICS:

With my heart upon my sleve
My head down low and I still feel broken

Down upon my knees
With my head down low I and I still feel broken

Where are you? Where are you?
I know that I need you most and
A heart upon my sleeve, broken down

Wooohh ohhh ohhh ohhh

I guess I'm just down I'd like some b-tch to get me out of here! (x2)

With my heart upon my sleve
With my head down low and I still feel broken.

Down upon my knees
With my head down low I and I still feel broken.

Where are you? where are you?
I know that I need you most and
A heart upon my sleeve, broken down, down, down.
