Priscilla - Miranda Lambert

The Experience: In Miranda Lambert's own words, Platinum is a reflection of her life. "All 16 songs together make up a picture... I wanted it to be perfect; I wanted it to matter. There’s girl power, not in the ‘I’m gonna burn your house down and kill you, but more where I am as a 30- year-old woman and wife." Priscilla takes a look at life in the limelight, under constant tabloid scrutiny...

Music Video: Still waiting...

The Meaning of Priscilla: Within Platinum's autobiographical scheme, Priscilla (as in Priscilla Presley) handles fame, and the gossip that the limelight throws at true love. Miranda understands, and she want's to make it work - had to be the first to make it last. In her own words, "Priscilla is the song that addresses being in the tabloids. I think it does it in a fun way, though. It happens, and it's happening a lot, lot more to Blake and I than ever before... I think what's so secure about our relationship is all that stuff makes us stronger. It does the opposite of probably what they want it to do, to tear us apart. It makes us laugh together about it, because we don't… it's such a far stretch, these stories that we say. We're so solid. It seems like the more successful we are, the more solid we get, because we have to pull together." Full interview here.

Ask Yourself: Do you have a good grip on who you really are, and who you love, independently from what everyone says about you?

LYRICS:

We, looks like we got to play the we
Permant accessory
Oh they all know we're on his arm
Ring, we gotta' wear the real big ring
Big smiles a lotta figuring
Big hair for the real big guy
When they turn it on and slick back their hair
We turn around in a world right there
Woman to women I'm startin' to see
What's happened to you is happenin' to me

Priscilla, Priscilla
How'd you get into yourself
Between the winds of town and a southern dog
It's enough to put a hole through hell
Priscilla, Priscilla
He's always gettin' hot this man
How do you to get the love you want
when everybody want's your man
It's a difficult thing to be with a king
And I feel you
Priscilla

Goes and had dates, we had to put it off again
To find time to procreate
Or at least that's what we were in
But he, Gardena didn't need to know I was his buddy
Gardena shouldn't have had to play the part
At least while we're not in bed
You and me share a unique position
Married to a man who's married to attention
Could't think of anybody better to ask
Had to be the first to make it last

Priscilla, Priscilla
How'd you get into yourself
Between the winds of town and a southern dog
It's enough to put a hole through hell
Priscilla, Priscilla
He's always gettin' hot this man
How do you to get the love you want
when everybody want's your man
It's a difficult thing to be with a king
And I feel you
Priscilla

When they turn it on and slick back their hair
We turn around in a world right there
Woman to women I'm startin' to see
What's happened to you is happenin' to me

Priscilla, Priscilla
How'd you get into yourself
Between the winds of town and a southern dog
It's enough to put a hole through hell
Priscilla, Priscilla
He's always gettin' hot this man
How do you to get the love you want
when everybody want's your man
It's a difficult thing to be with a king
And I feel you

It's a difficult thing to be with a king
And I feel you
Priscilla
