Let It All Go - BIRDY + RHODES

The Experience: When love breaks why does it have to break so hard? Rhodes and Birdy explore the pain of breaking up and the darkness that seems to envelope the world as we let it all go...

Music video: Features David Rhodes and Birdy in a red tinted wilderness surrounding an ancient mansion. The beauty of the place hearkens back to the depth and beauty of the love they shared while the red color shows the pain they feel as the relationship comes apart. While the cause of the breakup is not clear they never look at one another throughout the entire song and slowly but surely the scene grows darker and darker until it fades away into lonely silence.

The Meaning: Birdy and Rhodes sing about the pain of being in a relationship where the other half refuses the open up and give themselves ...just to say something real. While they don't not want to go they are beginning to see that the only way forward ...there's a light on the road... does not include this person they love so much. They have to let it all go and begin again despite the pain this will mean but they know that if they were strong enough to love they will also be strong enough to start anew.

Ask yourself: Does the pain of broken love drag me under or am I strong enough to let it go?

LYRICS:

I've been sleepless at night
'Cause I don't know how I feel
I've been waiting on you
Just to say something real

There's a light on the road
And I think you know
Morning is coming
And I have to go

I don't know why, I don't know why
We need to break so hard
I don't know why we break so hard

But if we're strong enough
To let it in
We strong enough
To let it go

Let it all go, let it all go
Let it all out now

If I look back to the start now
I know, I see everything true
There's still a fire in me heart, my darling
But I'm not burning for you

We started it wrong
And I think you know
We waited too long
Now I have to go

I don't know why, I don't know why
We need to break so hard
I don't know why we break so hard

But if we're strong enough
To let it in
We strong enough
To let it go

Let it all go, let it all go
Let it all out now
Let it all go, let it all go
Let it all out now

Who says, who says?
Who says, who says?
Who says truth is beauty after all?
And who says love should break us when we fall?

But if we're strong enough
To let it in
We strong enough
To let it go

Let it all go, let it all go
Let it all out now
Let it all go, let it all go
Let it all out now

We're strong enough
To let it go
