Wildest Dreams - Taylor Swift

The Experience: Nothing lasts forever, but this is gonna take me down... I can see the end as it begins. My one condition is say you'll remember me... The rush and excitement of a new relationship can be overwhelming, but is it worth it when you know this love is just pretend?

Music video: The final scene gives the lie to Wildest Dream's claim that she's happy with the short broken bit of romance. In the video the inevitably short relationship - where they both know it won't last and neither cares - becomes a epic movie. It's a love story with all the beauty and passion - embodied by the powerful animals that Taylor poses beside - that the big screen can supply. And it seems like Taylor's happy with it. But when the movie's over and real life slaps her across the face with the sight of her "lover" and his real girlfriend, she can't take the heat, and bails out of the party. The message? Wildest Dreams, with its carefree, shack up for a few days, no commitment love story, is a lie.

The Meaning of Wildest DreamsTaylor Swift does a great job of catching that heart fluttering excitement of a new relationship. But like so many others, this one's broken too. Wildest Dreams is a relationship that won't work and isn't meant to - I can see the end as it begins. But she can't resist - He's so tall and handsome as hell. He's so bad but he does it so well. Her only condition is that he remember her, and the nights they spent together. It doesn't matter that it's just pretend. But it does matter. Because deep down we all want a relationship that will last. That won't be just pretend. A relationship that will matter. Wildest dreams - even if they come true - don't fill our need for a solid lasting relationship.

Ask yourself: Are you trying to get love without commitment?

LYRICS:

He said, "Let's get out of this town,
Drive out of the city, away from the crowds."
I thought heaven can't help me now.
Nothing lasts forever, but this is gonna take me down

He's so tall and handsome as hell
He's so bad but he does it so well
I can see the end as it begins
My one condition is

Say you'll remember me standing in a nice dress,
Staring at the sunset, babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you'll see me again
Even if it's just in your wildest dreams, oh, ah, wildest dreams, oh, ah.

I said, "No one has to know what we do,"
His hands are in my hair, his clothes are in my room
And his voice is a familiar sound,
Nothing lasts forever but this is getting good now

He's so tall and handsome as hell
He's so bad but he does it so well
And when we've had our very last kiss
My last request is

Say you'll remember me standing in a nice dress,
Staring at the sunset, babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you'll see me again
Even if it's just in your wildest dreams, oh, ah, wildest dreams, oh, ah.

You see me in hindsight
Tangled up with you all night
Burning it down
Someday when you leave me
I bet these memories
Follow you around

You'll see me in hindsight
Tangled up with you all night
Burning it down
Someday when you leave me
I bet these memories
Follow you around

Say you'll remember me standing in a nice dress,
Staring at the sunset, babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you'll see me again
Even if it's just pretend

Say you'll remember me standing in a nice dress,
Staring at the sunset, babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you'll see me again
Even if it's just in your (just pretend, just pretend) wildest dreams, oh, ah, in your wildest dreams, oh, ah
Even if it's just in your wildest dreams, oh, ah, in your wildest dreams, ah, ah.
