Animals - Alex & Sierra

The Experience: Hiding away, turned into prey... Buying into a relationship that is less than human too often means being prey...

Music video: Alex & Sierra sing as shadows on a misty white backdrop As they hold hands they're threatened by the shadows around them. Hands try to rip Sierra away from Alex. They're objectified as faceless photographers snap pictures and faceless fans snap selfies. They're held up - faceless themselves - on tv for everyone to applaud. The shadows around them, like the pressures of life as seen on tv, try to mold their love into something much less noble. Into something animal, impersonal and meaningless.

The Meaning of Animals: After Toxic Alex & Sierra attack another dimension of life as seen on tv. Living for sex - loving like we're animals - is as sad as the music Animals set to. Because in the end, animals are heartless - we're loving like we're animals and I hear there ain't no heart just let it go. The lie is that sin, it feels right. And when you sin, you ignore the fact that I'm bleeding and embrace the lie - you take a bite of that red apple. But sin does break hearts. It makes calling someone's name a selfish crime. It takes a loving touch and turns it meaningless. That's what happens when we love like we're animals

Ask yourself: Why does entertainment so often portray men and women as animals?

EP: AS SEEN ON TV (2016)

LYRICS:

Hiding away, turned into prey
Like we're animals
Yeah, we're loving like we're animals
I know it's your thing
(I'm bleeding but it feels right)
Hunting the game
(We're flying through the night like we're animals)
Yeah, we're loving like we're animals
And I hear there ain't no heart just let it go

'Cause every single touch don't mean a things
And every time you're calling out my name
We know that we'd just like to be alone
'Cause every single touch don't mean a things
And every time you're calling out my name
We know that we'd just like to be alone
We're loving like we're animals
Like we're animals
Animals
Like we're animals

Under my skin
(It's killing us, but feels right)
I'm ready to sin
(Baby, take a bite like we're animals)
Yeah, we're loving like we're animals
We're not here to break no hearts
Just let it go

'Cause every single touch don't mean a things
And every time you're calling out my name
We know that we'd just like to be alone
'Cause every single touch don't mean a things
And every time you're calling out my name
We know that we'd just like to be alone
We're loving like we're animals

Save your sorrows, save them for tomorrow
In the wild we know

'Cause every single touch don't mean a things
And every time you're calling out my name
We know that we'd just like to be alone
Cause every single touch don't mean a things
And every time you're calling out my name
We know that we'd just like to be alone
We're loving like we're animals
