It Ain't Me - Selena Gomez with Kygo

The Experience: Who's gonna walk you through the dark side of the morning?
It ain't me... You have to leave them behind - you pity them but they don't deserve compassion...

Music video: Two things about the video make the break up that much more tragic. First, it showcases the "what if". What if she had persevered just a few more seconds? What if she had given him just one more chance? That "what if" can torture you nights. Second, she can't see his struggle to come back from his coma, can't see him searching for her. She just sees his unresponsiveness and passivity. So many friendships and loves are lost simply because it's hard to trust what you can't see: their heart.

The Meaning of It Ain't Me: There are good memories - I'll take with me the Polaroids and the memories. But he's part of what she's decided to leave behind - but you know I'm gonna leave behind the worst of us. She pities him - who's waking up to drive you home when you're drunk and all alone? But somewhere along the line he stopped deserving the compassion that would have kept her by his side. And she moves on. She regrets what could have been. But she doesn't regret leaving behind the man he is now.

Ask yourself: When should I turn my back on someone?

LYRICS:

I had a dream
We were sipping whisky neat
Highest floor, the bowery
And I was high enough
Somewhere along the lines
We stopped seeing eye to eye
You were staying out all night
And I had enough

No, I don't wanna know where you been or where you're going
But I know I won't be home
And you'll be on your own

Who's gonna walk you through the dark side of the morning?
Who's gonna rock you when the sun won't let you sleep?
Who's waking up to drive you home when you're drunk and all alone?
Who's gonna walk you through the dark side of the morning?
It ain't me

It ain't me
It ain't me
It ain't me

I had a dream
We were back to seventeen
Summer nights and the liberties
Never growing up
I'll take with me the Polaroids and the memories
But you know I'm gonna leave behind the worst of us

Who's gonna walk you through the dark side of the morning?
Who's gonna rock you when the sun won't let you sleep?
Who's waking up to drive you home when you're drunk and all alone?
Who's gonna walk you through the dark side of the morning?
It ain't me, no no

It ain't me, no no
It ain't me, no no

Who's gonna walk you through the dark side of the morning?
It ain't me

It ain't me
It ain't me
