Thunder - Imagine Dragons

The Experience: I was dreaming of bigger things... If you want to be a cut above average, Imagine Dragons has a song for you...

Music video: The video underlines the originality and nonconformism greatness needs to grow. A gray flat Dubai is lit up by three lightning bolts. Each is a different color, but they don't clash - greatness doesn't have to be violent rebel. They're harmonious: yellow to green to blue. The three rays of light produce three unique dancers. The dancers don't understand the sheep around them. The dancers don't fit in. Imagine Dragons, dressed in almost uniform conformist black, admire them. But the dancers dance to Dan Reynolds voice, and he eventually picks up their moves. Your life - Imagine Dragons - and your dreams  - the dancers - go hand in hand, building off of each other until they produce real life greatness.

The Meaning of Thunder: You don't fit the molds and you don't want to - not a yes sir, not a follower fit the box, fit the mold, have a seat in the foyer, take a number, I was lightning. You put in the work and it paid off - you say you're basic, you say you're easy, you're always riding in the back seat, now I'm smiling from the stage while you were clapping in the nose bleeds. You're original. You don't need to steal others' thunder - like lightning you make your own. But it's not magic. It only pays off if you never give up, never give up, never give up. The extended a capella segments underline the personality that has to shore up that effort. You can't just sing along - the song has to become your own.

Ask yourself: How will you be unique? Great? A leader and not a follower?

LYRICS:

Just a young gun with a quick fuse
I was uptight, wanna let loose
I was dreaming of bigger things
And wanna leave my own life behind
Not a yes sir, not a follower
Fit the box, fit the mold
Have a seat in the foyer, take a number
I was lightning before the thunder

Thunder, thunder
Thunder, thun-, thunder
Thun-thun-thunder, thunder, thunder
Thunder, thun-, thunder
Thun-thun-thunder, thunder

Thunder, feel the thunder
Lightning and the thunder
Thunder, feel the thunder
Lightning and the thunder
Thunder, thunder
Thunder

Kids were laughing in my classes
While I was scheming for the masses
Who do you think you are?
Dreaming 'bout being a big star
You say you're basic, you say you're easy
You're always riding in the back seat
Now I'm smiling from the stage while
You were clapping in the nose bleeds

Thunder
Thunder, thun-, thunder
Thun-thun-thunder, thunder, thunder
Thunder, thun-, thunder
Thun-thun-thunder, thunder

Thunder, feel the thunder
Lightning and the thunder
Thunder, feel the thunder
Lightning and the thunder
Thunder

Thunder, feel the thunder
Lightning and the thunder, thunder

Thunder, feel the thunder
Lightning and the thunder, thunder
Thunder, feel the thunder
Lightning and the thunder, thunder
Thunder, feel the thunder
(Never give up, never give up, never give up)
Lightning and the thunder, thunder
Thunder, feel the thunder
(Never give up, never give up, never give up)
Lightning and the thunder, thunder

Thunder, thunder, thun-, thunder
Thun-thun-thunder, thunder
Thunder, thunder, thun-, thunder
Thun-thun-thunder, thunder
Thunder, thunder, thun-, thunder
Thun-thun-thunder, thunder
Thunder, thunder, thun-, thunder
Thun-thun-thunder, thunder
