Silence - Marshmello ft. Khalid

The Experience: I'd rather be a lover than I fighter... Fighters fail when there's no more love left to fuel their fight. And no one can love alone...

Music video: A woman is evicted from her home. A father walks out on his wife and son. A young african american man is arrested by the police. Marshmellow, Khalid and company ride the night trying to bring a little bit of light to the darkness. It's not bright enough to dispel the shadows - in the end you can't force a loving relationship on someone if they don't want it - but it relieves the three victims' gloom with a little bit of hope.

The Meaning of Silence: Only one of you is fighting for this relationship. And fighting for a relationship when the other person makes love impossible is hard lonely work - I'd rather be a lover than a fighter 'cause all my life I've been fighting never felt a feeling of comfort. That can be the tragic story of someone suffering an abusive relationship. The hard but hope-filled story of someone trying to initiate a relationship when the person they love is aloof or oblivious. Or the drawn out efforts of someone battling to rekindle a long-cold love. Silence is the song of someone who has already settled for a life like that - I found peace with your violence - but who can't hold out any longer - I've been quiet for too longSo they decide to reach out one last time. Love is worth a lifetime of effort - can't show me there's no point in trying. But only if the other person is capable of love.

Ask yourself: How can you kindle love in someone's heart?

LYRICS:

Yeah, I'd rather be a lover than a fighter
'Cause all my life, I've been fighting
Never felt a feeling of comfort
All this time, I've been hiding
And I never had someone to call my own, oh nah
I'm so used to sharing
Love only left me alone
But I'm at one with the silence

I found peace in your violence
Can't show me there's no point in trying
I'm at one, and I've been quiet for too long
I found peace in your violence
Can't show me there's no point in trying
I'm at one, and I've been silent for too long

I've been quiet for too long
I've been quiet for too long
I found peace in your violence
Can't show me there's no point in trying
I'm at one, and I've been quiet for too long

I'm in need of a savior, but I'm not asking for favors
My whole life, I've felt like a burden
I think too much, and I hate it
I'm so used to being in the wrong, I'm tired of caring
Loving never gave me a home, so I'll sit here in the silence

I found peace in your violence
Can't show me there's no point in trying
I'm at one, and I've been quiet for too long
I found peace in your violence
Can't show me there's no point in trying
I'm at one, and I've been silent for too long

I've been quiet for too long
I've been quiet for too long
I found peace in your violence
Can't show me there's no point in trying
I'm at one, and I've been quiet for too long
