Trumpets - Flipsyde

The Experience: I know that you'll be there when I will say goodbye... Fighters fail when there's no more love left to fuel their fight. And no one can love alone...

Music video: Steve Knight drinks and drugs himself into a stupor alone in a messy apartment living room. When he ODs his spirit wanders out the door, and he finds the other members of Flipsyde waiting for him in the hallway. Reunited with them, he is no longer alone. The video raises questions. Is it offering hope for a better ending to a sad life story? Is it advocating suicide as a way to end it all and move on? Or is it simply reminiscing on failures, lows and hope?

The Meaning of Trumpets: Trumpets herald the end of the world, and in this case the end of a relationship and the end of a life. Death fills the song - fiery flame will kill us all and I hear trumpets ringing in my head before I go to sleep. Facing the end of their life brings Flipsyde - in this case Stevie - back to memories of lost relationships - takes me back way back when we were young and we were friends now I'm home alone. Those losses defined the rest of Flipsyde's life - never be the same again. And now Flipsyde wants to say goodbye, and hopes they'll get a chance to do just that on the other side - I can see your spirit dancin' next to mine. And maybe that heavenly goodbye will be the rebirth of a friendship - never be just never be alone.

Ask yourself: What relationships will you regret losing?

Album: We The People (2017)

LYRICS:

Countin' trumpets on the wall fiery flame will kill us all
And I hear trumpets ringing in my head before I go to sleep
Takes me back way back when we were young and we were friends
Now I'm home alone smokin' cigarettes waitin' by the phone
Sweet Virgina blue skies early mornin' sunrise
I can see your spirit dancin' next to mine

I know that you'll never be the same again
We can just roll on down this road my friend
I know that you'll never be just never be alone
I know that you'll be there when I will say goodbye

Hold on tight baby lean when I lean
Both arms tight lady follow my lead
Let your hair down feel it blow in the breeze
I'm a' take you to a place that you'll never believe
Riding on the wind disappear in the sky
Never ask why spread wings and fly
Sunbathe in the sun rays and dream
Listening to Dave play and Stevie sing

I know that you'll never be the same again
We can just roll on down this road my friend
I know that you'll never be just never be alone
I know that you'll be there when I will say goodbye

Countin' trumpets on the wall fiery flame will kill us all
And I hear trumpets ringing in my head before I go to sleep
Takes me back way back when we were young and we were friends
Now I'm home alone smokin' cigarettes waitin' by the phone
Sweet Virgina blue skies early mornin' sunrise
I can see your spirit dancin' next to mine

I know that you'll never be the same again
We can just roll on down this road my friend
I know that you'll never be just never be alone
I know that you'll be there when I will say goodbye
