Human - dodie ft. Tom Walker

The Experience: I'm so human. We're just human... Looking for something more. Because you're already human. And it's not enough...

Music video: dodie sings her song as she assembles a soulmate. She dreams. She paints. She glues. She gives him a chance. But in the end she finds him shallow and lacking. Just like all the other attempts. He can't hold her hand. He can't love back. And he can't spark her love. Her sadness and disappointment points to a deep yearning for someone like herself... but she can't create him.

The Meaning of Human: The vibe? Dissatisfied. On a relationships level Human showcases the yearning for more - a yearning that falls flat. There's no soul underneath the paint - unzip your skin and let me have a see.  On a human level that dissatisfaction runs much deeper: we're just human. And it's not enough. But we want more? Does that mean there is more?

Ask yourself: Why do we constantly yearn for perfect trust and love, when no human can ever supply it?

EP: Human (2018)

LYRICS:

I wanna pick you up and scoop you out
I want the secrets your secrets haven't found

Paint me in trust
I'll be your best friend
Call me the one
This night just can't end
Oh oh

Will you share your soul with me?
Unzip your skin and let me have a see

Paint me in trust
I'll be your best friend
Call me the one
This night just can't end
Oh oh

Oh, I'm so human
We're just human

Lean for me, and I'll fall back
You'll fit so nicely, you'll keep me intact

Paint me in trust
I'll be your best friend
Call me the one
This night just can't end
Oh oh

I want to give you your grin
So tell me you can't bear a room that I'm not in

Paint me in trust
I'll be your best friend
Call me the one
This night just can't end
Oh oh

I'm so human
We're just human
