Miss Me More - Kelsea Ballerini

The Experience: "I thought I'd miss you, but I miss me more...". Relationships are about give and take, but you should not have to surrender who you are to keep them. Your significant other should value you for who you are and not try to make you into someone else.

Music videoTwo Kelsea's face off against one another in the boxing ring. We see the part of her who wants out of the toxic relationship (black tank-top Kelsea) training for the fight with herself and her reasons to stay (white tank-top Kelsea). When the time for the big fight comes both put up a good fight and her reasons to stay clock her a few times and even drop her to the canvas once. But the new Kelsea is not done yet and gives her old self a thorough beat down before she walks out of the ring to begin her new life.

The Meaning of Miss Me More: In Miss Me More, Kelsea Ballerini reminds us that the give and take of a relationship should not require us to surrender our identity in an attempt to be someone else just to please our significant other. A true and healthy relationship is one where both parties give of their true selves for the other. It is precisely in being who they are that they can best serve the other. If that is not enough or only one party is doing all the giving then maybe it is time to "miss me more" and put ourselves first instead of getting locked into an unhealthy relationship.

Ask yourself: Do I help the person I love to be the best version of themselves or do I just want them to adapt to me?

LYRICS:

I retired my red lipstick 'cause you said you didn't like it
I didn't wear my high heel shoes
'Cause I couldn't be taller than you
I didn't wanna lose my friends, but now it's hard to even find them
It's what you wanted, ain't it?
It's what you wanted

I thought I'd miss you (when it ended)
I thought it hurt me (but it didn't)
I thought I'd miss you
I thought I'd miss you

But I miss me more
I miss my own beat, to my own snare drum
I miss me more
Miss my own sheets in the bed I made up
I forgot I had dreams, I forgot I had wings
Forgot who I was before I ever kissed you
Yeah, I thought I'd miss you
But I miss me more (I miss me more)

I put on my old records that I hid in the back of the closet
And I turn them up to ten
And then I played them all again
I found my independence
Can't believe I ever lost it
What you wanted, ain't it?
It's what you wanted

I thought I'd miss you (when it ended)
I thought it hurt me (but it didn't)
I thought I'd miss you
Yeah, I thought I'd miss you

But I miss me more
I miss my own beat, to my own snare drum
(I miss me more)
Miss my own sheets in the bed I made up
I forgot I had dreams, I forgot I had wings
Forgot who I was before I ever kissed you
Yeah, I thought I'd miss you
But I miss me more (I miss me more)

I thought I'd miss you
I thought it hurt me
And I'd wanna kiss you
I thought I'd miss you

But I miss me more
I miss my own beat, to my own snare drum
(I miss me more)
Miss my own sheets in the bed I made up
I forgot I had dreams, I forgot I had wings
Forgot who I was before I ever kissed you
And I thought I'd miss you
But I miss me more
(I miss me more)
(I miss me more)
(I miss me more)
