God Only Knows - for King & Country

The Experience: Have you ever thought that there was nothing left to live for and simply wanted to end it? In God Only Knows, for King & Country takes us through the experience and reminds us that there is still hope even in the midst of the deepest darkness.

Music videoIn the video we walk beside a young woman who has been through a trauma that has left her scared and alone. We see her facing sleepless nights of fear and pain before she finally can't take it any more and decides to end it all. She writes her suicide note, gets ready, and heads out on the town for the day. She walks the streets, goes to her favorite coffee shop, wonders the streets some more, meets some "friends" at a diner, drives around aimlessly for a few hours, and sends a goodbye text message to a friend. The whole time hoping someone will reach out and show her they care, ask her what is wrong, give her some hope, stop her from going through with her suicide. But sadly everyone is wrapped up in themselves and no one even bothers to notice her. And so she heads to a local bridge and jumps off. But right before she hits the water it all rewinds and we see what could have been (and hopefuly was) as one of the friends from the diner comes running onto the scene cell phone in hand after seeing her text and pulls her back from the edge. They are then joined by for King & Country and with these friends at her side she tears up the note and walks away from the bridge towards a future full of hope.

The Meaning of God Only Knows: In the terrible darkness of suffering and loneliness it can seem that... "nobody sees you... nobody would belive you...". But there is someone out there... "God only knows what you've been through... what they say about you... how its killing you." "But there is a kind of love that God only knows" and that He is waiting to share with you as He reminds you of who you really are, how much you are truly worth, and how there is still hope even in the darkest of moments. You do not have to "keep a cover on every single secret" for He understands it all and wants to be there at your side in the battle. "God only knows where to find you... how to break through... God only knows the REAL YOU." And He loves that REAL YOU unconditionally, even if it seems that no one else does.

Ask yourself: So, in the midst of the darkness, remember that there are at least three people in this world that do really care and love the REAL YOU...

1 - God your Father as for King & Country talks about in this song.

2 - The friends waiting for you at 1-800-273-8255 (USA Suicide Hotline).

3 - Yours Truly... praying for you.

LYRICS:

Wide awake while the world is sound asleepin'
Too afraid of what might show up while you're dreamin'
Nobody, nobody, nobody sees you
Nobody, nobody, nobody would believe you
Every day you try to pick up all the pieces
All the memories, they somehow never leave you
Nobody, nobody, nobody sees you
Nobody, nobody, nobody would believe you

God only knows what you've been through
God only knows what they say about you
God only knows how it's killing you
But there's a kind of love that God only knows
God only knows what you've been through
God only knows what they say about you
God only knows the real you
There's a kind of love that God only knows

There's a kind of love that
There's a kind of love

You keep a cover over every single secret
So afraid if someone saw them they would leave
But somebody, somebody, somebody sees you
Somebody, somebody will never leave you

God only knows what you've been through
God only knows what they say about you
God only knows how it's killing you
But there's a kind of love that God only knows
God only knows what you've been through
God only knows what they say about you
God only knows the real you
There's a kind of love that God only knows

There's a kind of love that
There's a kind of love
There's a kind of love that
There's a kind of love

For the lonely, for the ashamed
The misunderstood, and the ones to blame
What if we could start over
We could start over
We could start over
Oh for the lonely, for the ashamed
The misunderstood, and the ones to blame
What if we could start over
We could start over
We could start over
'Cause there's a kind of love that God only knows

God only knows what you've been through
God only knows what they say about you
God only knows the real you
But there's a kind of love that God only knows
God only knows what you've been through
God only knows what they say about you
God only knows the real you
There's a kind of love that God only knows

There's a kind of love that
There's a kind of love
There's a kind of love that
There's a kind of love

God only knows where to find you
God only knows how to break through
God only knows the real you
There's a kind of love that God only knows
