Songbird - Bailey Bryan

The Experience: So much has changed since the days I thought I had a plan... Old enough to know you don't understand as much as you thought you did...

Music video: Songbird's visuals are primarily dawn and dusk: private moments of doubt and decision when sunbeams are few and far between. That reflects the the melancholic soul searching of the lyrics. And the final birdsong heralds an eventual recovery of the carefree happiness that originally sprung from ignorance, but can ultimately only return with the answers that Bailey Bryan is searching for.

The Meaning of Songbird: Carefree... until you're not anymore. Bailey Bryan faces the hard questions and realizes I don't have the answers. That's sad, and the music spends plenty of time reflecting that melancholy. But it never grinds to a halt: life doesn't stop for us to figure things out - I'm scared 'cause it's moving so fast wondering how long I'm gonna last before the crash. When you're alone in the fast lane without answers, the only option is help - is there someone out there I can ask? For Songbird there is a God out there, listening... and responding - it's a drought are you hearing this? I guess so, 'cause every time I say that it rains. Bailey Bryan is no stranger to advice. That's comfort in the soul-searching. But it doesn't stop it.

Ask yourself: Have you met the someone out there you can ask?

EP: So far (2018)

LYRICS:

[Music Video: So who you? Why are you even here? Why is it the loudest in here when nobody else is around? Do you really have control over anything? Those are the questions I ask myself over and over. I feel everything... until I just don't. I get nothing... until I think maybe I need to ask somebody else.]

O Lord, I don't have the answers
I am just a wanderer, trying to find my place

O Lord, I don't think I signed up for this
O Lord, I don't think I'm enough for this
Me and myself really aren't that in touch with the spiritually now
It's a drought are you hearing this?
I guess so, 'cause every time I say that it rains
Never been a stranger to strange
But it's crazy lately, losing patience
Patiently waiting on the next leg
Nice to meet you, I'll probably never see you again
Nice to see you, said you knew me way back when
So much has changed since the days when I thought I had a plan

O Lord, I don't have the answers
I am just a wanderer, trying to find my place
O Lord, I don't have the answers
I am just a songbird, trying to find my way, yeah way

Start thinking about the things you've done
Start thinking about what you'll become
Start thinking about the future that we used to be something I want
Now I'm scared holding on to the past
Yeah, I'm scared 'cause it's moving so fast
Wondering how long I'm gonna last
Before the crash
Is there someone out there I can ask?

O Lord, I don't have the answers
I am just a wanderer, trying to find my place
O Lord, I don't have the answers
I am just a songbird, trying to find my way, way

Nice to meet you, I'll probably never see you again
Nice to see you, said you knew me way back when
So much has changed since the days I thought I had a plan
Now I'm trying to find a soft place to land
Nice to meet you, I'll probably never see you again
Nice to see you, said you knew me way back when
So much has changed since the days I thought I had a plan
Now I don't, and I'm hoping that you'll understand
One, two, three, four

O Lord, I don't have the answers
I am just a wanderer, trying to find my place
O Lord, I don't have the answers
I am just a songbird, trying to find my way

Yay-ay-ayy, yay-ay-ayy
Yay-ay-ayy, yay-ay-ay-ayy
I'm trying to find, I'm trying to find my way
